Cancer AwarenessA family touched by cancer As with so many families, mine has been touched by cancer. My dad lost his battle with prostate cancer on February 15th, 2007. In honor of my parents, Sonia and Edlin, the BlissfulSage Foundation has developed a program of Cancer Awareness especially directed towards those living in rural areas of southern Belize who do not have access to information about prevention and treatments. The 4th annual “Battle Cancer” 5Mile Run/Walk will take place on Friday, June 25th , 2010 at 5:30 a.m. in Placencia Village The race starts 5 miles outside of Placencia Village on the main road in the Village of Seine Bight. The race features a flat, fast, scenic course.
Organized by The BlissfulSage Foundation Inc., the event supports Cancer awareness in Southern Belize. Proceeds support prostate cancer as well as cervical screenings on race day and the establishment and maintenance of The Edlin Leslie Sr. Hospice and Home Care program. Watch for information about this year's race and plan to bring out your entire family to enjoy a beautiful morning in the village and eat breakfast on the beach for a worthwhile cause!
